Scottish Training Consultants, the Newburgh based firm providing customised, motivational and unusually innovative training courses to amongst others the Oil and Gas sector, have just completed company registration formalities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. STC have already worked in the region before however an ever increasing enquiry rate prompted them to establish a base in the capital. www.stcglobal.net

Mark Rushton, International Development Director commented, ‘’We are really excited in the potential of having a legally registered base in Abu Dhabi. We can now concentrate on continuing to build-up on the relationships with the many local and international companies we have links into already. It was also fantastic great being able to use the services of Frank Henderson at Native / MEBC through a personal referral, as with his local UAE experience he was able to assist us in many ways during the process relating to the formation of STC Global, Abu Dhabi. Additionally, we also feel that the Marketing services provided locally by Native Dubai will be very useful moving forward’’

The MEBC are pleased to announce that an Abu Dhabi specific route-to-market channel has been established in the capital. This commercial avenue is available to MEBC members who are looking mainly, but not exclusively, at the Oilfield, Gas, Renewable Energy, Heavy / Light Industrial and Construction related sectors. It will enable members to bid / tender for contracts and work in all the above sectors from even very early days of joining the MEBC. As further information, the company also have an operational office in Dubai.

The MEBC Edinburgh office enjoyed a visit on 13th August 2009 by Frank Henderson from the MEBC in Dubai. Frank had several one-to-one meetings booked with both members and also companies who wished to explore the possibility of operating or opening an office in the UAE or indeed another GCC State. Companies from the Construction, Retail, Software, Leisure, Renewable Energy and Tourism Sectors were all represented.

Frank, who never misses a photo opportunity and Ewan discussing the next MEBC client meeting

It is planned this will be an on-going positioning where we continually link potential members into an appropriate Middle East market, this enables us to follow-up on specific market research, local knowledge and general awareness through on-going contacts in the region by our Middle East Economic Development Team.

Frank commented that “It is great to see so many Scottish businesses from such a broad-spectrum of sectors showing the continued desire to focus on this market thus addressing the huge potential for commerce and trade ex Scotland in the Middle East. Being based in Dubai, an area that has seen both boom and consolidation over the past year, I am acutely aware of how critical it is to approach the market with the correct business model and just as importantly, via a fit-for-purpose sponsorship channel to avoid lead-in times that will throw-up early, potentially challenging cash flows’’ Frank also stated that at present the markets of Qatar and Abu Dhabi presented great opportunities for all sectors.
