The team from MEBC exhibited at the SCDI Global Ambitions Conference at Murrayfield, Edinburgh on 1st Sept.
This went very well, and Ewan commented “We were delighted to have the opportunity to take part in this SCDI event.”
Scottish Training Consultants, the Newburgh based firm providing customised, motivational and unusually innovative training courses to amongst others the Oil and Gas sector, have just completed company registration formalities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. STC have already worked in the region before however an ever increasing enquiry rate prompted them to establish a base in the capital. www.stcglobal.net
The MEBC are pleased to announce that an Abu Dhabi specific route-to-market channel has been established in the capital. This commercial avenue is available to MEBC members who are looking mainly, but not exclusively, at the Oilfield, Gas, Renewable Energy, Heavy / Light Industrial and Construction related sectors. It will enable members to bid / tender for contracts and work in all the above sectors from even very early days of joining the MEBC. As further information, the company also have an operational office in Dubai.
The MEBC Edinburgh office enjoyed a visit on 13th August 2009 by Frank Henderson from the MEBC in Dubai. Frank had several one-to-one meetings booked with both members and also companies who wished to explore the possibility of operating or opening an office in the UAE or indeed another GCC State. Companies from the Construction, Retail, Software, Leisure, Renewable Energy and Tourism Sectors were all represented.
The MEBC will be one of the guest speakers at the Emirates Festival Day Forum that is being hosted by the Al-Maktoum Institute. The Festival has been created by the events arm of the Native Agency for the Al-Maktoum to celebrate the business, cultural and educational links between Scotland and the UAE. Principal Malory Nye of the Institute commented “ I am delighted to have the support of a number of organisations including the Dubai Government, Emirates Airlines, Mackays of Carnoustie, Highland Spring, Leisurecorp, the City of Dundee and the Native Agency.
The 16th Annual World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC 2009) will for the first time feature a fully-fledged Bahrain Pavilion, further highlighting the Kingdom’s increasingly important role as a leading global hub for the international Islamic banking and finance industry.
The Middle East Business Club was launched in conjunction with the Dubai Government on Tuesday 23rd June in from of a VIP audience, along with our associates, the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce. Fayha Sultan from the Dubai Government commented “ I was very pleased with the turnout and the interest displayed by the interactive audience, I would very much like to ….work closely with the MEBC.

The Middle East Business Club was formed to provide a business mentoring and introduction avenue for companies who wished to explore being commercially active or having a presence in that region.
On 5th May 2009, Native held a briefing on the Middle East Business Club. A number of Scottish businesses attended for an educational and informative evening which involved case studies, regional analysis and a number of Q&A sessions.
